Canter's Restaurant, Bakery, Deli and Bar: what do users think?

Stephanie Wing: We just moved about an hour from L.A. and could not wait to find this iconic and very famous deli. WOW, it did NOT disappoint. Old fashioned and quirky, including that amazing ceiling, it kept its integrity. I ordered the rare roast beef on sourdough with russian dressing and potato salad. OMG the potato salad, I could NOT eat it fast enough. Every bite was so mouthwatering, I just had to order more to take home. Then I started on my roast beef sandwich, it just MELTED in my mouth, so very, very flavorful, and do not get me started on that creamy, and tasty russian dressing, it was the best dressing I have ever had. My husband got the cheeseburger and fries, and of course I had to try his fries. Another huge home run. Crispy and crunchy on the outside, and creamy and smooth on the inside, hugely enhanced by dipping them into that unforgetable russian dressing, be still my heart. I cannot say enough good things about this perfect deli. I cannot WAIT to go back, and I will stock up on that dressing and potato salad for sure. OH, we LOVED our server, Greg, he was over the top nice to us and offered good advice for ordering. Perfection....pure perfection.

Jerica Burgette: . I tried the potato pancakes with apple sauce and sour cream, also delicious. Lastly, I got the challah French toast to eat for breakfast the next day, and it did not disappoint. I think they give you a good amount for what you pay for, too. Kudos to the people keeping this nostalgic place going.Parking: Late at night on a weekday

Ginny Kosola: Great historic LA restaurant. Staff if friendly and accomodating. NY Deli food and more.Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free options

Jarred Brewster: passable if price isn't taken into account. That said, the atmosphere of Canter's and the fact that it is open 24 hrs more than makes up for whatever it lacks in quality of food. Just don't come here expecting even a greasy-spoon tier culinary revelation.

V K: 😍🙌🏻 Wonderful place to shop for Russian goodies!😍 I loved it! So many products!Such a beautiful shop! And they speak Russian too! They have much more products than what you see in my photos. They have a lovely outside area with tables, I didn't take more photos not to bother the happy clients and lovely kids enjoy their delicious treats ✨.

Alexis Evanoff: I had a wonderful experience here. It was a cold day and I needed a coffee to warm my hands and I felt like exploring a little so I came here to avoid the beaten path. This little family owned and family run establishment treated me with hospitality like I was coming into their home. I not only procured an expertly made cappuccino, but also took home with me some prepared food that was absolutely delicious, and definitely homemade. I enjoyed meeting everyone who was there and Konstantine, the owner, even kindly gave me a chocolate truffle to enjoy with my cappuccino as gift. I will definitely be back. I couldn’t have asked for a better reward for trying a new place.

Dmitrii Semenchuk: Cool

Aloha Deli Market: what do users think?

C M: Been here in LA for years and never knew about this place till today. It’s an amazing little market with a deli and carries pretty much everything from beer, to lotto, cigarettes, hot and prepared food, wine and other little items you may not find at your local liquor store. The people working there are helpful, friendly and nice. It’s a little spot on Vermont that is a little hidden gem and you would not know it from the outside but it’s a nice little deli tucked away in a very busy corner. Have not tried the deli yet so I will definitely add a few more sentences once I do. But yeah great little spot.

Urban Jones: Nice

Yuuko Ichihara: It has recently changed ownership from an old couple to a younger couple? Of Koreans. They are very friendly. They recognize their patrons. Their store seems bigger, brighter, cleaner and more organized. I recommend the mango and passion fruit bobba drinks. One time their money order machine was down, but it worked fine all the other times I tried to get one. It is right next to the vermont cleaners and they're open later now.

Eileen Shipley: This is the most amazing place I've ever have the pleasure of visiting. It has everything you need and more. The owners are two of the nicest people that you have ever met. There are not many places like this left anywhere.

Apolinar Rayo: Bye service

Sandra: great hidden deli. awesome selections

Julia Castro: Wow they make really great sandwiches & their soups are delicious. The staff is very friendly & helpfulI totally recommend this place

El Jo: Yummy!

Jose Baldonado: This place has been on my list for years. Finally tried it and we should have come years ago. The sandwiches are excellent. The quality of the bread is just what you’d expect from a great sandwich shop. The shape is different, more like an elongated oval vs a traditional deli roll, but it’s fantastic.Tried the Italian and PMB and both were excellent. Definitely coming back here again sometime soon.

SuperSteve: The best subs!

Heather Hall: I love the sandwiches here, definitely one of the best places to get a super sandwich, simple but spectacular and gthe people who work there are really sweet!

Adriana Fonseca: Go to spot for snacks prior to the Dodgers game! Best sandwiches in town!

Cecilia Alcaraz: The best sandwich I've ever tried... 100% recommended.

Heriberto Macias: If you're looking for fabulous deli sandwiches, this is the place. Best prices and sandwiches are fabulous. I have been coming here since 2018. Mrs. Lilly is a very nice lady...

Vina Armstrong: Lily's is definitely one of the best places to get a sandwich. I've been loving her sandwiches for the last two weeks now. You will not be disappointed. Thank you so much Ms. Lily ❤️She is very sweet 😍

Gino D: Nice little corner shop. Not very much to choose from snack wise but they do have sandwiches. Not many candy item's. Not many chip's. Nice lady.

pete farfan: Great sandwiches by far my fav is the pastrami with jalapeños all veggies. Delicious! Good will be coming for lunch when I’m in the area!!

Alfred Davis: Great sandwich, great price and very clean would definitely go back.

Denisse Aldana: I love coming here for a quick bite to eat! Their tuna sandwich is my favorite. It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming.

myron lee: The person there was very friendly and helped me find all the grocery items I needed. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and it was fresh, full of pastrami, and very tasty.

Jesus Gutierrez: Sandwich Shop is Clean with Fresh Homemade Sandwiches and Deli Salads and Desserts. Owner Lily has A Heart of Gold. She truly Cares about her Customers. I love Lily's Sandwiches.

Melissa Martinez: Delicious sandwiches!

Valerie Corral: I love Lily's. The food is delicious. The service is impeccable. Lily is an amazing, caring woman with a huge heart. I highly recommend Lily's market and deli to everyone.

Wexler's Deli: what do users think?

Celeste Wang: The food is delicious, the bagel is super delicious😋The clerk's service is friendly and considerate!

Keigo Yamada: pickles and a large amount of egg.The sourness of the pickles and the creamy egg worked against me, whose chewing ability and judgment had become impaired due to tacos and hamburgers. The store is bright and cleanCashless payment only

Anna M: Excellent sandwiches, more meat than bread which is how it should be. Plenty of tasty meat!Quick and friendly service too.The only downside is that their “rye” bread is not really rye. It’s light colored and looks/ tastes more like whole wheat bread spongy American style, rather than authentic dark German or Russian rye bread. And the sandwich is called Russian, ironically. Taking off one star for that.Otherwise, highly recommended.

good times: Lox and bagels were very good, I’m not fond of rye bread so they put it on bun. The pastrami was all right. I prefer Tom’s burgers pastrami that’s fried and on a French roll. I won’t discount that I am not a pastrami connoisseur so this is just from a layman‘s perspective. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I enjoyed sitting at the bar. I did have to go buy a beer somewhere else because they don’t serve alcohol.

Kristine S: Great place for a breakfast bagel inside of Grand Central Market. Quick service, quality food, and overall a cool atmosphere.

Chris Ziebarth: Sit at the counter if you can

Garo's Deli: what do users think?

Michael Ramirez: Great food and friendly service

Jorge Gamero: We found this place by chance. The food, the service really good. ..Highly recommend itWe found this place by chance. The food and service excellent. We recommend it.

Chenchula Sudanagunta: A friend of mine brought me here. I live so close and regret not coming here sooner. Their daily special with Shish Kebab was excellent. Can't wait to bring more friends for a quick lunch. They have seating with Cafe tables hidden in the back.

Hoa Huynh: Everything was good but small portion for the sandwich.

behrinmind1thing: This deli brought my wife back to her childhood. Super delicious wonderful service. We will be back it is worth a subway trip and great walk.

Jessica Peck: What an awesome little hidden gem! The Soujouk sandwich was delicious! Polite and patient staff. I definitely suggest you take the time to stop in and try it.

Victoria Wang: Stop searching around for a decent, delicious and authentic sandwich!!! Garo's Deli is definitely the right place to go. Took me a while to find a parking spot in DTLA, not surprised, and finally find this Armenian deli shop located in a small alley in St. Vincent Court. I am super excited!!Walking in the shop, I am truly amazed by how clean and nicely organized of its set-up. There are different kinds of fresh bread, choices of cheese, deli meat and sides that you can build your own sandwiches OR you can go straight from the prepared sandwiches on the menu. All staffs are very friendly and helpful, I am given enough time to ask questions and explore all the goodies.I ordered two hot sandwiches: Chicken Club and Pastrami. Their sandwiches are made to order with fresh ingredients such as tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, provolone cheese and other sandwich dressings. Hot sandwiches are toasted in an oven for around 30-45 seconds with cheese. Before I took the first bite, the cross section view of these sandwiches have already won my heart and every bite is full of different textures and layers of flavors!! The only thing to mention will be the chicken, it's a little dry to my standard and I hope it could be more moist and tender next time.As mentioned earlier, the parking can be a challenge if you are not from local. You can also park in nearby lot with minimal fee and walk here for pick-up. There are about 5-6 indoor seating and 6-7 outdoor seating for small gatherings. Garo's Deli is not only a sandwich shop but also a small market where you can buy varieties of sauces and cheese which is very convenient. This amazing shop is firstly opened in late 2020 during the pandemic. Thank you Garo for serving great quality food and excellent customer service.

Michael Riechmann: Service 5/5- Garo is the man and runs a tight ship.Food 5/5- Sandwiches are perfect firmness.

Kristy Dai: Garo’s Deli can be found in the heart of DTLA’s jewelry district. Garo opened his deli in 1989 to share his love of Armenian foods with everyone in DTLA. Since then, this wonderful family business has been continuing to serve amazing dishes and deli sandwiches. Their bread is fresh baked, their deli meat is freshly cut, and most of their ingredients are locally sourced! There is so much to love about this amazing spot! ❤️What I Ordered: Roasted Beef & Chicken SubAbout the Food: I absolutely love the variety they have on their menu. They have everything from hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, soups, salad, coffee, and more. I opted to get their hot sandwiches! For starters, I love how fresh their ingredients are! The bread was absolutely perfect! Crispy on the outside but still fluffy and warm on the inside. The sandwiches are stuffed with fresh vegetables. The pickle inside adds such a nice flavor contrast to the rest of the sandwich. The roast beef was nice, juicy, and flavorful. The chicken had a more subtle flavor but you could really taste the quality of the chicken they use and they did not skimp on the meat. These sandwiches will definitely fill you up! I am super happy we got to try this amazing hidden gem within the jewelry district. If you’re making a trip to DTLA, I highly recommend stopping by this shop to try out their delicious food!IG: @kristys.kravings

Andrew Rodriguez: Just ordered a Pastrami sandwich. Owner told me it was the best in Los Angeles. He's telling the truth. Best tasting Pastrami I've ever had. I'm definitely going back!!!

Fang Phattha: EASY AND DELISH SANDWICHES!! This is such a hidden gem in Jewelry district. They serve really nice sandwiches. The making was very quick so I didn't feel like waiting at all. There are seatings outside, which are much more WELL-MAINTAINED and CLEAN compared to the surrounding areas.

Magno Portilla: Coming from Queens NY, something that you really miss is the bodegas/delis. At almost every block you can get good sandwiches for a decent price. California lacks many things and fresh delis is one of them. But now there’s Garos Deli in the heart of downtown LA. They are serving up some of the best Armenian style sandwiches. The pastrami was definitely my favorite sandwich of them all. The mortadella sandwich was also delectable and tasted very fresh. The bread is made in house every day. If you love a good sandwich then come on by and give this great deli a try.

George Garcia: and a vegan soup which hit the spot perfectly. It has inside seating which was nice as there were several smokers outside and we had to flee indoors

Hottesome (Quintin Ellis Jr): Garo's Deli is a long standing amazing Deli/Grocery/Cafe off beaten path down the famous St. Vincent Court Alley among several shops and eateries, but none quite like Garo's.This DTLA favorite has a lot of authentic international influences and cuisine mixed with modern flare. An Armenian owned business with lots of history and charm.Garo's has a pretty solid falafel plate that I'm a fan of as well as new menu item Foul by Bowl that sells out daily.Garo's Deli has outdoor and indoor seating as well as delicious prepackaged eats and sips for purchase such as nuts, pickled veggies, canned goods, savory snacks, desserts and bottle beverages of all types.Taking a turn down this slice of life is a must! Amazing service from start to finish. They do have rushes of customers, but provide you with quality and quality that keeps you coming back.

Qian Long: So delicious!! The sandwich options are endless. Will be coming back when in town.

Richard McDowell: Love this place. Great deli

Sam Dillard: Just about everything here is made from scratch on site. The bread and pastries, the pasta, and the gelato!Place is like a tiny market and a little Rome restaurant combined. The sandwiches are amazing because the bread and the Italian meats are so good. Anything with a good burrata/brie, prosciutto, and baguette is going to be a winner.Good coffee too.
