Jonathan DeCoster: First time going to a GC. They had a large selection of products to choose from-I’m in the middle of rebuilding a schecter omen 6-they didn’t carry everything I needed to finish the job so that was a bust. But I did get a new one so 4 stars

L.A. Guitar Sales: what do users think?

Lynn Stanley: , these guys actually know what they're talking about and give you one-on-one attention. You really can't go wrong here.

jleus00: I’m a repeat customer and highly recommend Ted and Helene when making any guitar purchase. They both have always treated me right and their deals are unbeatable. The latest purchase is the best yet, I’m thoroughly enjoying my new Taylor GT, the koa is amazing! Thanks again

EDWARD H0WELL: I just Purchased an Eastman SB59 in Sun Burst....Ted and Helene could not have been more helpful in making it happen ....3 days from point of purchase and it was at my door....Free delivery and a price I couldn't pass up...For the money it surpasses Gibson in terms of Quality and sound...Ted is a walking wealth of Guitar knowledge and is so easy to talk to and make a buy....I could not say enough about the service and reasonable pricing on the guitar in question...Eastman SB59, a fantastic guitar... Thanks Ted and Helene!

Clark Ilagan: Just want to say thank you to Ted and Helene for an awesome customer service. They helped me with the whole process in purchasing my McPherson Carbon Fiber Sable Honey Comb Blackout Edition guitar and answered all my questions. On top of that they put together a great deal package for me!!!Highly recommended, two thumbs up and 5 Star rating!!! I would come back and and buy another guitar from them.

Arthur Strand: Very Helpful! I called to get information on a custom Martin that I was considering purchasing that originally came from their shop. I was super impressed with the gentleman's knowledge and courteousness as the person who was selling the guitar was the exact opposite. Thank-you! I am so sorry I've forgotten your name, but thank-you so much for your true kind and helpful spirit!

Roland Correa: I bought two high end guitars from Ted and the experience was wonderful. Very helpful and courteous. I’ll be back in the near future.

Josh Martin: and I work full-time.When I finally made it in, they let me play the guitars I was interested in. Low-pressure sales situation. Still can’t believe the deal I got on this brand new Martin. They know a ton about the brands they carry. They walked me through registering the warranty with Martin, which I did as soon as I got home. I am thrilled to own this guitar and can’t thank LA Guitar Sales enough. Highly recommend doing business with them.

EveningCrow: Beautiful shop!Stopped by to check out some guitars. When I showed up they already had the models I was interested in set up for playing. Had a tuner and picks available, and the guitars had fresh strings on them. I was told to let them know if I had any questions or wanted to check out any other instruments. After some back and forth between guitars, I decided on one of their custom Martin 000-15M. There was no rush or pressure. Definitely recommend checking this place out. Their stock is very impressive!Just make sure to set up an appointment in advance and let them know what models you're interested in.

Georg Pörtsch: Awesome experience, super welcoming and professional service. We felt very comfortable and had a great time. Just remember to call ahead and make an appointment.

Erik Powell: Ordered one of their custom shop Martins. They were a pleasure to deal with, answered all of my questions, and the guitar arrived safely without issue. Very happy with my new Martin.

José Benito Martínez Jr.: New year 2019 brings a new guitar. I had a very pleasant exchange on a new Eastman guitar today January 2 with LA Guitar Sales. The presentation was my pick of two guitars of the same model. Played them both and made the decision with beautiful E1D. Price was agreed, warranty card, last check guitar check and off to casa Martinez. A very satisfied customer! Thank you!

Bahadir Turan: Very reliable store. They did reasonable discount on cash payment I sent money from far away LA than they marked it as sold and about three weeks later my brother in law pick it up from the store. It was exactly what it is as I saw in their online store. My suggestion is just follow up their gear list in their online store and hit the bullseye. Reliable store and owners..

Tim Winzeler: guitars and a long history if expertise regarding them. Finally their prices are exceedingly fair compared to other shops. The is truely a gem of a guitar store.

D Anthony: Very knowledgeable staff

David: Pleasant sales process and great experience for me, thus far. Purchased a guitar today received great information from them over the phone, which confirmed my decision. I plan to update this review later once my guitar has arrived.

Laurie Davidsohn-Bienstock: We love L.A. Guitar Sales!! They have served our family well for many years. The owners take excellent care of their huge guitar collection which includes new and used and if you have the opportunity to visit their shop on Sunset, you might get lost in there for several hours.

Old Style Guitar Shop: what do users think?

Mads Jensen: Highly recommend finding and fixing your guitars here. In need of a rush order, they processes a swift and thorough fix.

Paul Broucek: Old Style was recommended to me a decade ago and I have been going to Reuben ever since with my various guitar strays and more mainstream guitars. People have commented that it’s the hip Silverlake spot. It’s not about being hip. It’s just unassumingly cool and Reuben is a prince of gentle chill. Thank you. 5 stars+

Jonathan Hinton: Installed pick-ups in my acoustic. Sounds great.

Jeff Block: Great customer service. Both friendly and helpful. Excellent assortment of instruments. My only gripe is that I would love to see some more basses. The tenor guitars are cool but it would be nice to see some appropriate oldstyle basses. Maybe a even a few mutes or sponges specify for basses. Just a though.Anyway, I will be back to pick up a guitar. Love the shop!

Cory McConnell: I used to live in the neighborhood and I always enjoyed swinging by and seeing the instruments they have here. Came through on a whim today and ended up leaving with one of their signature rubber-bridge builds. Thomas and Reuben are great- they talked me through a few different models, and they were patient while I took time to play them. Excited to record with my new OS guitar, and excited for future trips to the shop.

Alex Minney: Wish I could give them 6 stars. My go-to for setups and I recently purchased a rubber-bridge guitar for a friend that he LOVES. Also Tracy is so friendly and helpful!! Old Style for life ❤️

Corey Kniss: Old style did a great job setting up my Stratocaster and installing new pickups. It plays and sounds beautiful and was done within a week. Definitely recommend taking your guitar here.

j.d. garland: Incredible

Michael Chambers: Love this shop! I picked up a baritone acoustic guitar with rubber bridge installed. I’m a piano player and not very confident in my guitar playing abilities but I felt comfortable plugging in and testing out a few guitars before making a decision. Good vibes!

Sam Ash Music Stores: what do users think?

rene Sotelo Cortes: Very good in every sense of the word, I have been shopping at Sam Ash for 30 years and I congratulate them for their kindness and attention

Ryan Purcell: Great experience with the team in their Hollywood location. Talked to them on the phone, they said they’d call back with more info, and THEY DID! They’ve earned my business with their personal touch.

Wingspan Media: WingSpan Media has chosen Sam Ash as our go to place for all our audio needs. Wether it's getting help ordering a special part through their guitar tech Sal or the finding the right gear for our needs through Steve, it comes down to the professionalism of the staff at the West Hollywood store that has won us over as committed customers. Thanks Guys!

Brahm Genzlinger: I had a great experience here buying an acoustic guitar as a gift for a beginner. Mark was extremely knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect guitar that would be easy to play, smaller in size, stay in tune and sound good. He really listened to what different things I was looking for, and had the knowledge and care to recommend the perfect thing. He even steered me in a better direction than I was originally thinking without ever being pushy in the least. I highly recommend talking to Mark Chulick at this location.

Arafat Hossain Shuvo: Bought my first saxophone. Great experience. Marvin was awesome

GUCCI TOO LIT: Jose hooked me up with a sweet guitar, wasn’t sure on getting it but he made the sale for me. Sal is excellent too.Top of the line shop

D Sly: Great customer service.

Kira Davis: This is the best place if u want to get a guitar I got my first guitar here, and it is in very good shape, when i got it also the service was amazing and I the there lessons for guitar I really recommend this place.

Dorian Matthes: PLEASE STAY OPEN !It's so nice to walk into this shop , and SEE THE PRODUCTS ! SEE THE PARTS AND EQUIPMENT!!!TALK , FACE TO FACE with a human being / fellow musician. Definitely an "essential needed service"...More like 'Precious endangered species'. Thanks to the brand of "democracy " that's been forced upon us.Alex J. Talladino , from the phone of my friend.

Cris Borgnine: Been going to the Amp shop for a few years now very friendly staff and Gary is very knowledgeable when it comes to guitars and gear. As well one of the biggest guitar pedal selections your gonna find anywhere in LA!!!

Mr.Blonde66 Milkyway: Still haven't been inside this location yet. Has been around a long time and has a decent rep.

To Be (The Critic): Simply one of the best and friendly and most knowledgeable and helpful music stores I know of. With Gary the very cool owner, and the best guitar tech on the planet in Tina. Great instruments and amps to choose from. From new to vintage. And a great collection of pedals, cables, parts and accessories. They pack a lot into that store. Anything you need, go on in. Where a lot of the studio guys go as well. Join the"in" crowd. It's the worst kept secret in town!

Randal Nichols: I happily travel from Tucson to North Hollywood for the best guitar luthier I know:Tina Wood at the Amp Shop Bass Exchange. The EverTune bridges she installed on my two old Gibsons are beautifully crafted into perfect position...and both have stayed in tune happily ever after.Supreme thanks & hat's off to Tina Wood!!!

Jimmy Deer: Cool shop with that rare neighborhood vibe. Great gear selection and knowledgeable, helpful staff-definitely going to buy my next bass here.

June Higgins: Tina is an awesome luthier! She did a set-up/pickup installation in my acoustic, and I’m really happy with the results!

ernie fregozo: Friendly people. Attentive good with communication.

Will Kolbe: Gary rules

Yvonne Mendez: Every thing you can think of is here!!! Hard to find guitar pedals..guitars and rare items!!

Temogen Amato: Tina the Luthier is absolutely great. The guys that work there are not so nice and even worse on the phone. Don't hold their stinky attitudes against Tina...she is the reason your going there. Her pricing is ver fair and she has a sweet personality and high level of skill.

Richard Lopez: You can find Strymon and other boutique quality pedals here that aren't offered at chain retail shops, their selection overall is impressive. A pretty neat spot as far as music shops go.

davemakesnoises: Wonderful shop. Spent all day looking for parts to rewire my bass. tried like 8 different shops and you'd think these were common parts, but alas. Anyway, the folks at Amp Shop had just what i needed and made sure i was set up with the exact right electronics for my particular instrument. Super helpful staff, excellent selection of strings and parts, and some really cool instruments up on the walls as well. highly recommend.

California Vintage Guitar & Amp: what do users think?

Jonathan Pearl: My favorite. Hours are rather flexible, so make sure to call ahead. This place is so far removed from the big franchised music stores - and that's a big 10-4 in Shakytown.

Wanda Lewis: Great little spot. I'd really like to mention and praise their Guitar tech Seth. He's a super cool and knowledgeable dude. Does very precise and good work and at reasonable rates as well. Customer service at the front of the store was great too. Will definitely be back for any future repairs or set ups for my instruments!

Steven Buchanan: One of the best guitar shops in LA , staff is great, cool instruments and Seth is a Terrific go-to guitar tech. 5 stars times 10!

Lastat: 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

Carlos Roberto Music: in affordable price.

Justin Pagel: This is a guitar boutique !Amazing rare guitars .Just like the sign says .....

Muzik Blu: This was a referral. Took in my brand new acoustic bass in to have the action lowered. Price is great and the service. I had to go back in again, because I was getting fret buzz, due to the heat. I brought in, took him 20 seconds to adjust it. That's service, Seth is personable, laid back and professional. Highly recommend.

Chris Cuomo: Seth is a true professional. I brought him my favorite guitar, an 80’s / 90’s Frankenstein Stratocaster which was in bad need of a fret job, etc. I can truly say that this is the best my guitar has ever played.I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend California Vintage Guitar & Amp to anyone looking to breath new life into their weathered players guitar or prized possession.

Southbound Suarez: I only walked in from off the street after working late on a weekend afternoon all dirty and sweaty at a construction project. The place obviously looked very boutique and upscale. I was unsure who was working or who was just there hanging out. But the folks were all very unpretentious and super cool. I window shopped some orig. Lesters and the prices were not at all bad. I ended up buying a NOS RCA tube that really truly was NOS and the price was nice! Only double what a premium JJ from CED might cost! Very cool shop. Wish I lived nearby!

Rico Vitz: Excellent vintage guitars and amps.

Robin Fee: Go there first for a vintage guitar Dave the owner is first class all the way and Seth the Fret Dr. Is the finest in his field. Cruz in Sales knows his way around a guitar. You wont leave disappointed!!!!

russell repp: Dave not here

Neely Guitars: what do users think?

Daniel Vasquez: I recently bought a taylor baritone acoustic from a well known guitar company, the action was really high and after trying to lower it myself an having little success, I took it to Dave. He told me that the bridge was as low as it can go an the neck would have to be shimmed, which is more than a simple set up. I called the company I bought it from an they were willing to credit me $150 for a set up but after mentioning Dave the salesman said “oh Neely said that” an told me we’ll have you a new guitar out tomorrow. The next day I had a working guitar with no problems all based on Daves reputation, it was truly incredible! and n saved me a good amount of money. With all that said Dave is the only person I’ll have work on my guitars!!

Michael Lippman: David Neely is a magician! I brought in a Martin 000-18e retro with extreme water damage, convinced it was unsalvageable. He took it apart and expertly repaired, reconstructed, and refinished her. To my surprise, he not only fixed it, but made my gorgeous best friend sing better than it did from the factory. If you care about your guitar, take it to David, a truly masterful luthier.

Tom Neely: Awesome

John Treanor: of a 67 ES-330 for me and I couldn't be happier.

Patti Dugan: David is the best of the best.

Dillon Randolph: I bought a Rickenbacker 4003 from Reverb that came in pretty bad shape. It had been sitting in a closet for years and gunk had collected on the fretboard, strings, and input jacks causing the bass to be unenjoyable to play and the output to be inconsistent. David did an incredible job bringing the bass back to life and setting it up perfectly. I highly recommend David for any job on any instrument, but especially for jobs on mechanically complex instruments.

Daniel Eyes: Dave is a great guy and to be honest the only guy in town who knows what he’s doing. I had an acoustic baritone that came with a bunk pickup and after taking it to several shops that the manufacturer worked with and using multiple replacement parts that didn’t do the job, Dave was the only one who noticed the real issue in the volume control wiring and did me a solid and fixed it on the spot. Don’t waste your time and just bring it to Neely.

St Francis: It was nothing but a pleasure meeting with Mr. Neely. And it was nothing but an honor to have him restore my Martin DM. He's a true craftsman. The best! I'm so glad I found Neely's. I wouldn't consider bringing an instrument for maintenance to anyone else. Thanks David for being so conscientious with my guitar.

Flora Xia: Easiest the best luthier in Los Angeles. My fretboard feels like silk and playing feels so buttery. I would highly recommend people to get their guitars setup here for David's level of artistry, he's also a great guy and very fun to talk to.

Jonathan Roa: .Anyways, I find a lot of luthiers or technicians who work on guitars tend to have less knowledge surrounding the electrical theory - as fellow electrical engineer myself, finding someone who has a formal electronics background is an absolute necessity to get the most out of an instrument's hardware and ensure that it functions optimally and reliably in the long term... very thankful that David has all of this and more.

karson magarian: I brought my '03 Epiphone Les Paul to David for a setup after neglecting it for far too long. He worked absolute magic on my guitar and made it sound better than it ever had before! David is truly a master of his craft and I will definitely be coming back for years to come. Highly recommend his work.

aeden kay: Best and kindest guitar guy I’ve ever met. He’s got the magic touch!

Hugh Casey: David is a gifted, talented and educated craftsman. Most recently, he did fret work and a tremolo adjustment on my Fender Custom Shop 1960 Strat. It now has more sustain, plays better and stays in tune! I won't go anywhere else. When the scientists have perfected human cloning, I hope that David will one of their first subjects. Seriously, though, he is so much in demand that we need 2 of him!BTW, I brought in an inexpensive Japanese copy of a Gibson Hummingbird for fret work and tuner replacements and he treated it and me with the same respect as when I brought in my Fender Custom Shop models. I don't believe those creepy reviews.Thank you, David

Steve Hurtado: Awesome dude, great work. What else can I say, never disappointed.

Marcelo Gondim: Got my jazz bass pickups installed and neck adjusted for extremely low action, intonation, etc. David is very knowledgeable and experienced. He will go an extra mile to make sure you get the best possible results.

Asken Guitars Guitar Repair Los Angeles: what do users think?

Chad Belteau: Fren does a great job on repairs and setups. I have taken several guitars to him and have always been happy with his work.

don4blues: Great experience. Not only is Fren Asken a super chill nice guy, he’s a master who loves his work. I needed a new bridge on my acoustic and he said I could wait for it. Got to watch him work his magic, like sitting at the counter watching the chef cook your dinner. Not only did he fix the bridge, but adjusted the neck and saddle fixing a years old string buzz at the 12th fret. Pin this pro into your favorites. You’ll be happy you did. BTW, those beauties behind us are his creations. The Gold Top tribute is sublime.

Kenneth Loyd: Sent a guitar that nobody would touch for an evertune install due to a recessed bridge. It was done beautifully and looks factory. I'm so happy with the way this guitar feels and plays. Installed a new pickup for me and professionally set it up. I would recommend them for any work needed and would not hesitate to send another if needed. This thing plays better than it did from the factory.

Carlitos Cuba -Bass & Groove: Just the Best , if you want quality this is the place to repair or buy your instrument

Bernie Paul Grammatico Antonio: I was having a hard time finding a legit shop to work on my semi hollow body and I’m glad I found Askens. Everybody else was either too far from me with weird hours or expensive. I highly recommend this shop for their price and quality of work. Great experience.

J Michael P: Been trough many shops over the years i can say fran is the best so far. Apart from been a great guy his work is flawless. When i drop one of my guitars i always know its in good hands.

Jin Dong Park: The tuning peg on my acoustic taylor guitar was bent, so I went to get it repaired, but Mr. Asken was so kind, meticulous, and perfect.Thank you... Mr. Asken

Bobby Lonasco: Fren is the best! I live out of state and well worth paying for shipping to and from for his expertise.

Rafael Chow: I found this guitar guitar shop just looking online and the good reviews of some others customers indicated the expertise of Fren he's a musicians, he love what he's doing he is an excellent guita mechanics. I've been in some other places, wacky! very happy with the work he put in my Martin acoustics guitar.

David Neale: I have only been playing for three years. I was inspired to leave this review by how he treated me and my guitar. He didn’t condescend and he showed a real interest in where I was as a guitarist. But the real reason I am leaving this review? One thing he said, “my allegiance is to the guitar.” Rad. And true. He did not upsell me on anything. He just wanted my guitar to sound as best as possible.

Judah Spindler: I never made it in to this shop, but I called several times to ask if they sold guitar strings. They were always polite, even if they informed me they were about to close/closed already, and yes, they sell guitar strings.

Miguel Flores: Fren ASKEN is the best in Los Angeles.

Jad Eden Dunn: Excellent repair and set-up!

Julien B: Really glad my friend referred me to this shop! You can tell the love for music and craftsmanship.Went to get a classical travel guitar fixed. Not only it was fast, efficient and priced good we also had a great conversation.I will be back for sure!

Eli Schneider: Brought in my guitar to get the electronics fixed and he did it on the spot for cheap! He even explained to me how to wire the guitar and why it wasn't working, as well as some other random tips about improving the guitar. I haven't had a better experience with a luthier!

elie chriki: The owner I believe his name is Fren was so kind. He replaced my strings for my guitar and told me all the problems my guitar had and fixed them with no charge. Was so nice and polished the guitar gave me some tips and the repair was fast and easy. 10/10 service great guy!

Payum Ryan Banafshe: I just took my 6 year old son here to buy purchase a guitar and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He even took the time to teach my son his first note and try the guitar before purchasing it. All around great experience and I highly recommend this place.
