Suzanne Margolin: After buying two parakeets at Canoga Discount Birds, which one died within a week….and going to the store to complain, my husband came home with 2 more. I was worried that these might die too so I took them to a vet and had all three checked out. They tested their poop, because one had diarrhea. Within a month two of my birds died and we were left with Sky who needed to be treated for his ongoing diarrhea and mites. He had to be treated every 2 weeks from May 1st to August 14th when he got a clean bill of health. We wanted to get Sky a friend so after researching, I came to Birds Plus on Burbank in Van Nuys. I am happy to say after a month already Luna is great and Sky is happy. When you look at the birds at Birds Plus…..they all look so healthy and the owner is so kind and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this store. Luna is the yellow and green one.

Jaci Price: These guys know birds!! My elderly Amazon parrot that I inherited is very mean and bites everyone who comes near him. He needed grooming but nobody was willing to work with him. They took him right in and groomed him. I was shocked and how great they were with this bird. They were able to reshape his beak trim his nails and even notified me that his gait was off from a possible stroke. They referred me to a great vet who helped me nurse this bird back to health. I am soo grateful to this place. Their prices are extremely reasonable and my bird looks forward to seeing them and gets all excited when it's time to go.

Housten Epp: performed the grooming each time; trimming the flight feathers, beak and nails, and was immensely delicate with our little birds. He always handled them very professionally, explained what he was doing as he was doing it, and thoroughly answered any questions we had. He provided thoughtful information and insight for future bird care and gave us good suggestions to upgrade our birds food quality, like how to introduce fruits and vegetables into their diets. His care and knowledge is an essential asset to us new bird owners and we greatly appreciate him taking his time and being patient with us!

Lorena Mireles: I have visited Mike's pet store a few times this year. I needed to catch up with vaccines for my four dogs. Mike has been very kind and attentive, he's very informative and always provides the best advice. I spent a bit of cash on vaccines, but it was my fault for falling behind. Which I don't regret because now my babies are safe and protected ❤️ Who said pets were cheap? I'm happy with Mike's prices. A visit with the vet will cost double. Customers walk in expecting 10 or 20 dollar shots 🤨 shoot I wished too! But if we really love our fur babies then we shouldn't be thinking it twice. There's also low cost vaccines at participating animal shelters really early in the morning 🙂 for the peeps that wish to pay less. Just do us happy customers a favor, stop bringing your negative vibes to this store!

John Puppo: I no longer work in downtown, so I don't get to come here as often as I'd like. That being said, I still make the trip for special occasions. Most recently, I went to pick up a new sweater for my dog! He gets very cold, and this place carries stuff from "Charlie's Backyard" who makes my favorite dog fits.They have also great fresh treats that he loves, and the service here is always super kind. They let my dog try the sweaters on, so I know he'll be comfy when we head out the door.
