This is because Shawn's approach is far more holistic than simply doing weights and gym training. For life-changing results, there are other, more important factors, like sleep and meditation that need to be explored. Shawn does this unlike other trainers and this is why I have seen better results than with those other trainers. For example, I was able to see my body start taking shape for the first time in my life and lift weights I was previously unable to lift. I also appreciate the fact that Shawn listens and responds well to questions, I am never afraid to ask him questions and this is one of my favorite things about him. I see Shawn multiple times a week and my body and mind have continued to improve on an upward trajectory. In the last year my life has changed drastically for the better. Shawn helped to heal my mind and body well enough that I have been able to start dating, traveling, spending more time with friends and family after years of isolating behavior. steve phillips: After my wife and I retired we sustained what one Doctor prescribed as “Refridgeritus.” Food that was readily available. We thought we were eating “healthy food” and gained a lot of weight and seemed every joint ached with movement. Before Shawn's intervention, I was in and out of hospitals for over 13 years and had 5 heart catheters and 10 stents supplanted into my arteries. My testosterone levels were in the range of 200 and didn’t have a lot of energy and I was on 8 different medications.Since working with Shawn’s program for the past 5 years my testosterone has jumped to 800. That's pretty good for being 70. I lost 43 lbs. and my wife lost 28 lbs. and have never felt better. We have more energy to exercise and more stamina to work out. Nana Wilberforce: after having two babies. Jason was super responsive and professional. He asked what my goals were and talked me through the process and sent the information in writing as well. He provided an 8-week postpartum diet, cardio, and strength plan. It allowed for modifications as a breastfeeding mother and was very doable, though it required a lot of dedication as expected. I worked with personal trainer Dennis who is very knowledgeable, prompt, and flexible with training times. They are both bodybuilders and are very knowledgeable about diet and fitness, including knowledge beyond just heavy lifting. I am fitter and stronger than I was before having both babies and they have refreshed my dietary habits such that I have been able to maintain my weight during the holidays with ease.

Steve Kelly: their methodology is a good fit for all. If you're a time-poor professional like me, the focused high intensity 30 min workouts are a great option.All of the trainers are genuinely great to work out with and push you just hard to enough to ensure progress without wanting to quit... though you may occasionally want to curse at them!Wayne and Stephen, the owners, run a really tight ship, the facility is always meticulously clean and their custom app makes it incredibly easy to book workouts.They also have physical therapist available to help with rehab, mobility and functional wellness. Garrett is incredibly knowledgeable and his treatments are already helping my broken 50 year-old body to improve and heal!Really can't rate this place highly enough - if you're looking for a friendly, inclusive and professional place to start or continue your fitness journey, this is for you.

Rather it is a combination of good healthy eating and effective exercise.I just want to add that other trainers in the Brentwood UP gym are also friendly and very supportive. The gym-equipment is a superior quality and kept exceptionally clean, as are the locker rooms, showers and ammenities. I love going there !As others have commented, I can't recommend UP enough. Christina Lee: Can’t recommend this place enough! I searched around different training locations and wasn’t satisfied with what was out there. What I love about UP is that they are data and results driven and have an incredible team that is highly trained and knowledgeable. I learned so much and was able to push myself more than I had ever before. Shout out to my trainer Mark who did a wonderful job being encouraging and keeping sessions fun, but also pushing me hard when I needed it.

Maria Kiskis: I have been training with Eddie Escobar at at Ultimate Performance for about 8 months. Eddie’s discipline and support is second to none. He is both no nonsense and encouraging. Eddie has a gift of extreme thoughtfulness and patience to push me to and past my limits, even and especially on the days I show up on the struggle bus.I have worked with several trainers at other well-known gyms, and I can whole-heartedly say, Eddie and UP belong in a whole other category. The combination of the workout regimen with nutrition, sleep, and continuous tracking of it all, it’s far more than just personal training. I am the strongest I’ve ever been and he got me in 3 months what it took several years with other trainers.Eddie has also helped me work toward finding balance in my nutrition, in sleep, and leaning into other aspects of self-care. At the end of the day, you have to do the work, and if you do, the results are real. Eddie is a magnificent guide at keeping you accountable and helping you to get the job done.One final aspect of UP I’d be remiss not to note is that there’s a built in mini community at the gym. Everyone is mostly doing their own thing with their trainer, but you see familiar faces on similar schedules and sometimes when you’re pushing the prowler for the nth time, getting cheered on by other trainees, as well as other trainers is just what you need to hear. So thank you if you’ve been on the delivering end!

Edward Meloyan: Hello, my name is Edward & I’ve been going to Ultimate Performance for almost 9 months. The journey has been amazing & will continue. My trainer, Eddie Escobar is the most amazing trainer I have had in my life. He is so caring, nice, calm, motivational, inspirational, & goal driven. He has helped me lose about 45 pounds & still continues to transform me. He definitely gets all the credit! To be honest, to me, from watching all the trainers train their clients, he’s the best one. He is always on top of his game and knows exactly what to do to help you understand the exercise correctly. I am proud to be trained by him 3 times a week, every week.The gym itself is very nice, clean, and you get the feeling of safety when you’re there with your personal trainer. I’ve been to a couple of high end gyms, and had personal trainers there, but they did not transform me as fast and as easily as Ultimate Performance. I am a proud member of this gym. I wouldn’t recommend another.I started off at this gym at 220 pounds and the lowest I’ve been has been 173 pounds. I mean, incredible right? In only 8 months! To be honest, before I started I had a gastric sleeve surgery 5 months prior to my starting date at ultimate performance. After the first 4 months of surgery, I was down 40 pounds. I was at 250 pounds prior to surgery and I went down to 210 pounds. But on the 5th month post surgery, I gained 10 pounds back and was feeling hopeless and miserable. I realized it’s time to put in some hard work, so I joined Ultimate Performance in the hopes of becoming 5% body fat. Well after almost 9 months I went from 30% body fat to 17.5% body fat. I will continue going to this gym until I am 5% body fat and after that I will most likely stay at this gym to grow bigger muscles.I also want to thank the founder of Ultimate Performance, Nick Mitchell, for starting this amazing gym full of the most educated personal trainers. The gym truly does stand up to the words “Worlds leading Personal Trainers”. I see him at times at the Brentwood location where I go and he is very inspirational to me by just being himself and training hard.Again, thank you Eddie! You really make this gym & this world a better place.If you’re looking for the best trainer, ask to be put with Eddie Escobar. You won’t regret it, I promise.

Coming to UP really changed the game for my personal fitness, diet and mentality towards my health and well being. I've gotten stronger, lost weight, and feel really great about the progress I've been making. Each session I can lift a little more and I am jazzed to come back. Xavier is incredibly knowledgeable, encouraging and holds me accountable when I need it. Excited to see how far my journey takes me!

Eric Kim: Ultimate Performance lives up to its name and the results photos used to advertise their services. They can seem too good to be true, but my trainer Julian Leano and I achieved the results as advertised. I went from 176 to 158lbs in 12 weeks and achieved the six pack I never had in my 37 years of existence. I signed up for another year and hope to add ten pounds of muscle while maintaining a lean aesthetic physique. If you’re hoping to transform your appearance, confidence, discipline, and lifestyle, this is the place to do it!PS- Julian is great at accommodating injury and limited range of motion into the training plan. I struggle with a shoulder injury and have had poor mobility/flexibility my whole life. We’re actively working to improve on all this while working on our lifts.

Tali Livni: I joined UP about 4 months ago. I saw all of those amazing transformation photos that they have everywhere and couldn't possibly imagine that I'd ever be one of those stories. I had tried by myself so many times and had never made any real progress without going to extremes. I knew I was doing something wrong but didn't know what. I was looking for a place that could help me understand both nutrition and exercise rather than going to different specialists for each. UP delivered! I've had the pleasure of having Killian as my trainer and simply am astounded that the progress we've made. He's caring and can share tough truths with support. Also, surprisingly, training with John seemed to not only have an effect physically, but also mentally and psychologically. Using these skills, he’s been able to craft an exercise regimen tailored specifically for me. He has years of experience and takes into consideration my age, strength and injuries, this is not to say he does not push me to work hard and feel great! His knowledge is remarkable!! He wasn't joking about contacting me outside of the sessions. He called, text, Facebook all the time to see how I was doing and keeping me accountable. He really cared to see me living a healthier lifestyle. I don't see that with many trainers. Most trainers I see only talk to their clients during the sessions and nothing more.John has been in the Universal City location for years training people of all ages. John is a very caring and fun person that walks the walk of exercising himself and eating well.If you are looking to get in better shape and learn how to be healthier, John in your guy/trainer...you will not be disappointed.

I have been training with John 3x/week for 1 hr each session for more than 18 months now. In that time, I've lost 80 lbs and several clothing sizes, and I am continuing to lose on my way to a 100 lb goal. I have gained strength, lean muscle mass, and confidence! I have been able to summit not just one, but two 14,000' peaks since I began working with John. John is so experienced; he knows exactly what to do in terms of both diet and cardio/strength training. His gym is bright and spotless, and parking is free and secure. I feel completely comfortable in every way at the gym and in his care. His workouts are never boring, and he is a a lot of fun. Carly Holander: Meryl has changed my body, mind, spirit, and my life. The first day I came to her, I almost fainted several times during the workout. That's how out of shape I was! Now, I can run longer than 20 minutes without breaks, I am super strong, and have much more energy. She is super smart, energetic, funny, and makes working out and being healthy FUN. Fitness and Fuel LA: what do users think?

Sarah Goldberg: . They are focused on form and preventing injuries. The difference I have noticed from my prior training experience is what has made all the difference. I have perfected my form in ways I have never been taught previously! Never did I know my trapezius muscles were working during much of my upper body training, leading to rounded shoulders and tightness. I can now work other parts of my back I was never able to and feel so much better. They teach an awesome home workout to compliment the in person training, which has made a huge difference in my waistline and core strength. They stress rolling out between your workouts, and teach you the correct way to do it! Whitney and Byron have helped me with my diet habits and I've learned great meal prepping tools that I am finally using. They really live what they teach and that has been an inspiration to me too. I highly recommend taking the leap.

I have always had back pain which was exacerbated by a medication I was taking. We worked around the back pain and she gave me the homework of corrective exercises to practice. So in addition to working out with her two times a week in the gym I would work out with my home/gym routine. By the end of my time with her I definitely noticed that my balance had improved. I also learned how to recognize what would exacerbate back pain and how to manage it.We also spoke a lot about nutrition. One of my concerns was how I could eat healthy with minimal prep and minimal time allocated to cooking. She taught me about the importance of prioritizing vegetables and protein and how I could find grocery options that worked for my lifestyle.Working with Whitney was also life-changing because I realized how impactful exercise could be on my mood. You have to do the work and change your mindset in order to see results. Sarah Miller: A little over a year ago, I discovered Whitney and Byron through Yelp. They offered me a free training session and I immediately clicked with them.It was one of the best decisions I ever made.Over two years ago, I gained a large amount of weight and could not lose it no matter how hard I tried. I felt terribly insecure and overwhelmed trying to navigate fitness alone. Working with Whitney changed everything and in a healthy fashion. I not only lost weight but built muscle. I got stronger and my endurance has become the best it has ever been. I used to struggle in high-cardio workout classes and now I do them without issue. I was the least athletic person in my family and after working with Whitney, I could out-ski them on our winter vacation.Physically - I have improved considerably. I dropped 40.1 lbs going from 182.4 to 142.3. I went from 36.10% body fat to a much healthier 23.60%. I lost considerable inches in every part of my body.
