Record Surplus: what do users think?

Steffanie Cohen: So glad I went in here today! Staff was great, especially Chris, who sorted through a couple of big boxes of albums I brought in to sell. I feel like I got paid a fair price and he was nice enough to help me carry them from my car. Highly recommend if you’re looking to sell vinyl!

evan: Friendly attentive staff and a great mix of records and genres.

Gabriel Craft: Excellent independent record store est. 1985Undoubtedly, many of your favorite musicians have visited this place. In particular, Records Surplus is a must visit location for any hardcore weezer fan.🤘🤓🤘=w=Rivers Cuomo: For “In the Garage,” I definitely had the Beach Boys and “In My Room” in mind. At one point while I was writing, I wanted some new inspiration, so I went to Record Surplus on Santa Monica and went through all these classic LPs. I narrowed it down to “Led Zeppelin II” and the Beach Boys’ “Pet Sounds,” but I only had enough money for one. It was basically a coin toss, and I walked out with “Pet Sounds.” Then I went on a deep dive and got all their other albums. It’s funny that Weezer could’ve gone in a totally different direction.— Los Angeles TimesMikael WoodMarch 25th 2024

NRC “NOTHING REALLY COMPARES” 78: Nothing Really Compares to record surplus

Michael: Top spot for new releases

Tom Tobin: This store has some unique and rare music and collectibles. Decent prices and big selection.

Jack Loh: Very nice selection of new and used vinyls, CDs and assorted vintage audio goods.

victor osaka: Thousands of albums

Jocelyn Wang: Staff is nice and this place has incredible selections of records! I attempted to shop for classical music today and I walked out with 2 vinyls and 2 CDs for $11 which was a decent haul. They offer genres of all kinds for vinyls at good prices. I don’t think anything saw was usually over 30 something bucks. Definitely in demand commercial or popular collectibles were around that price range. But this is a nice place to get affordable records! They also offer a bin/attic area where u can browse for so many records for a $1. I got myself a DuPre CD and a Yehudi CD there!

Jorge Moraga-Bernier: Huge collection of music. Def worth a visit!

Ria Antony: Such a good collection. Good to have a record store nearby. The records are clean and taken care of and the staff is also helpful.

Len White: Very OG. Makes me wanna finally get a turntable. Great peeps.

Carlo Cocirio: Good record store where you can also find some rarities

Josh O'Brien: This store has a lot of great vinyl. Plus it's cool that it's labeled new or as is, etc. That is pretty awesome because the staff is not really that personable at all.

Cosmic Vinyl: what do users think?

Chris Yanke: Sometimes you just in the mood for an adventure and you run into a place it just fills you all the excitement don’t give me wrong. I come from the land of retro culture Seattle, but it got old and got tired, but not here here it will be right back up and running back to the place.I was just filled with joy and smile and can remember flipping through my parents records and the coffee they made incredibly goodone thing to remember, though this is a vegan establishment so don’t request whip cream like I did, but you’ll find people who really helpful And you’ll find this place perfect.I like the strong bold flavor in my coffee. I got to meet some really cool people. I was here. I can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend day or even a weekday if you just wanna be alone and listen to music to find give it a shot, because cosmic can be interstellar .Did chocolate Chia cookie is ridiculously good I couldn’t believe how good that was. I got a little bit of steam back in my stride when I met one of the other patriots who was really cool going to visit. This is a great place to do all that you can go back in time, or leap forward into the futureAgain, remember this is a vegan establishment so be respectful of that and enjoy the many different options they have of milk all the different nuts that you could cover macadamia is what I tried almond is good and the mini others that they have are well worth it I’m sure And occasionally the barista will take requests

David Alvarez: Love their space, their coffee offerings, and vinyl!!

Allison Castillo: Their vanilla latte is 10/10.

David Washington: The coffee is different and the Danish was awesomely delicious.

Gianna Alvarado: This is my favorite cafe. Everything is pretty much vegan. Plus they have a cute collection of vinyl records for sale.

Deborah Williams: Great vegan spot and I love the vibe. Welcoming, not pretentious, and great music.

Mike Borkovitz: Fun show at a cozy venue. I enjoyed the show very much the comics were good.

Michael Bernstein: Really cool little coffee shop. Saw a small stand up show there. The owner was a really nice friendly guy. All around a really cool place!

Gregory Miller (Greg): My youngest saw this place while we were on vacation so we stopped by to browse the stacks. She ended up buying two random LP's she had never heard of before. They had a small but nice collection of new old records, old well loved records and some collectibles at fairly reasonable prices. Cannot comment on the cafe side but many people came in and out for food and beverages and everything smelled very good.

Kieffer M: Always checking the new arrivals

Rockaway Records: what do users think?

Eddaytona Geil: I was in the touring business in the day. Sold my accumulated swag to them at a fair price. Highly recommended.

Da zee: The undisputed best. Remember to call for appointment

David Francis: Incredible music store. I used to purchase collectibles from Wayne and Gary when they advertised in Goldmine magazine. High quality rare collectibles and vinyl. I was excited to finally visit the store when I was in the area.

Roberto Ugalde: Have loved this place for more than 35 years. Smaller than Amoeba but a preferred alternative for me. I hope they will re-open soon!

Justin West: I’ve bought here like 3 times via email and nothing but great service. Send my friends over here from time to time thanks

Mauricio Moyano: It is the best Beatles memorabilia store in Los Angeles, with 40 years of experience. Great variety of artists. Buy several Capitol Beatles records and other souvenirs. Good prices and discounts. They receive you in the most cordial way, you feel at home. 200% recommended

Jo Ramirez: Awesome selection. Prices are very fair. Will return again soon.

Lucas Dio: Andy is a great guy. All of them are cool people.

Steve Adams: This record store is pretty unique. It's located in Silverlake, Los Angeles. Kinda around the corner from Dodger Stadium.Great shop back in the day when you could walk into a record store and hang out and browse. It deffintly has a rock museum vibe.I would reccomend checking out this store / website if your looking for hard too find vinyl and posters.I've sold some media to Wayne years ago and he couldn't have been more honest and professional.I haven't been there in a few years, but this is one store to go to, to find some hard to find stuff. One reason is LA is full of record executives and old school collectors that eventually sell off their collections.Anyway thought I would stop by and leave a good review, this used record store hopefully lives on and reopens brick and mortar soon!!!!

Deanie Snell: Wayne was very knowledgeable and fair

G Wall: The staff is extremely knowledgeable and have one of the best concert poster inventory in the business. Not only that, but their prices are fair making them a true asset to the poster collecting community.

stefano ongaro: Fast shipping 🇺🇲 to Italy...🇮🇹

fernando ramirez: i have been to this location a few times over the years and have fond memories. i've purchased a few records there and also some CD's. i went one year for 'record store day' and they were really busy. the parking lot is pretty small but i've never really seen it get too packed. the area it's located in is nice to go for a walk around after looking around at their inventory.

Going Underground Records: what do users think?

Adam Mayes: Фантастический магазин! Отличный выбор и хорошее использование там.

Glenn Basgaard: Отличный выбор и акции!

Masslab .net: Очень хорошие цены...

Danny S: Incredible store! Great vibe and prices

Rimas Veselis: Can’t express how knowledgeable and helpful Going Underground Records are. I was helped by Adam and Henry - they helped me find the perfect graduation present for my niece. Would recommend to any vinyls fan!

Scott Peterson: I found the majority of records on my list and the prices weren't breaking the wallet

lekilimark: They don't have a parking lot and you have to pay to park there, or park at Little Tokyo market and get an hour validation in the market if you buy something. So we walked a block and a half to the record store. It was wheelchair assessable, but you would have to stand-up to look at the records, which I did in short increments. The place is pretty small and has mostly new records that are re-issued from old records. They had a pretty good punk selection and the records are around $30 for the re-issued LPs. They were interspersed with some used records and I bought a used Trio record for $6. My husband couldn't find anything. They had a big selection of 7" 45's.

Matthew Douglas: Interesting selection. Small but varied.

Jon Dobrowolski: are bringing in also deserves recognition. Hardcore/Death/Black/Goth/Avant Garde/etc is all top quality and cutting edge.Very friendly staff who respect everyone who walks in.

Edward Chvn.: Cool, small little record store near Korea Town. They have Punk, Metal, & Rock vinyls and other various genres. Plus, they have cool used records. You should check it out at least once if you're in the area

As The Record Turns: what do users think?

Stephen Cowan: Great selection of all original vinyl. The folks in the shop couldn't be nicer.

Tiff301 S: Excellent store! The owner was wonderful to talk to! Very smart and knowledgeable! A lot of rare amazing records inside! I recommend this store to anyone who really loves music.

Jacob Beck: Talk to Kevin, he's awesome!!

pedro salinas: Amazing

Jackson Arold: This is my favorite record shop in Los Angeles! They always have a great collection and they have the best prices in town!

Eric Chemouny: Amazing experience at As the records turns ! I would have loved to spend hours talking with Kevin the boss. He knows a lot of musicians, propose a huge choice and could guide you through rare records. I bought a few Soul and Jazz gems! For sure now one of my preferred Vinyls store in LA! A great place to visit.

J D: Kevin is the record king!! This guy knows EVERYTHING!! Thanks for always being so welcoming each time!!!

Carlos A Nevarez: This place is a hidden gem. Met the owner, Rick, who is a knowledgeable authority on rare LPs and a fountain of knowledge. There are great finds here and will be back.

Trish canas: Small, but it was a nice and friendly place

Steve Thornton: What a great little place tucked down a cute little side street. You won't find Tone Poets or other reissues here; what you will find is loads of original releases from the past 60 years or more. You will see other reviews complaining about the prices, but if you know what they are, it's extremely fair. If you're looking for Jazz or R&B, the selection is tremendous - you will not find a better selection in LA. I didn't look at the rock stuff, but I'm sure it's as good.Another thing you won't find anywhere else is the endless stream of fascinating stories from the owner, who knows everyone in the music world, and sells records to them too. Everybody from Quincy Jones to James Brown to Bud Shank to Muhammad Ali - and he has the photos to prove it!I left with an armload of rare jazz and a big smile on my face.

Ricardo Ignacio Kennedy: The best place to find records

rudy de la o: Best spot for classic old school records. Kevin and his wife are both wonderful loving and welcoming. Kevin never disappoints with the amount of knowledge he has from his life experience and love for music. Just as well as his wife. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Bryan Melcher: I called to find a specific record. They tracked it down and graded the record on the phone! Super great service and kind people all around.

Cesar Palet: A store trapped in time!!! A wide variety of vintage vinyl. Duels are super nice

D S: Great store for originals lovers

Nick Keutzer: This place is a pretty amazing hidden gem off Hollywood Blvd. A little pricey. But very well curated and well kept. You can tell this record store has been around for a long time. Great selection. Doubt it’s possible to leave without something you’d love.

Allison M: A wonderful record store. All original vinyl. Check it out! Dope.

Ale Z: + was the most stolen gift at the white elephant party

waleriax: Great place. The owner really knows his stuff. A lot of stuff you wouldn't find at other record stores. And they do shipping too. I can highly recommend this place

Lishi Huang: Always the most grounded and welcoming place. Their records are always amazing too, just be sure to come Saturday when they drop their new selection - the popular records usually go quick! Their taste is immaculate if you want to pick up some sage music advice from the two shop owners Stan and Ray. Usually the only two that hold down the shop. Stay for the conversation and vibes. Leave with new music and better headspace.

bella: decently priced and great selection

Hector Ayala: Nice record store in highland park

Kimberly Palacios: I Love this this Record store shop. Their very helpful and polite.

Jose Martinez: What a great shop! Awesome selection of punk vinyl and good tunes playing in-house. I could have spent hours flipping through the bins.

lekilimark: Good prices. Soso selection.

Shahin Chandrasoma: Tightly curated, quality-over-quantity record shop. Flipping through bins was a pleasure with tons of gems nestled amongst plenty of great records. You get the feeling that the bin contents have to meet a pretty high relative standard with regards to what makes it out there. The display racks have a great mix of bangers along with a few more esoteric and rare titles, spanning genres. Staff was super personable. Overall a great experience. Will be going back for sure!

stonewalljacksons: Great place to find those scarce disks

Kira Davis: I always get my records, movies and CDs here. It’s a really cute small little store for all of those items I just mentioned and their service is really good. Everyone is so sweet there and every time I go and buy something they give me a little duck, and I always collect them and put it on my stand, they also have really good prices and their CDs are always really good shape. Also the records and I love how the movies are $.99 that’s really good. I really do recommend this place. It’s so cute in there too and they’re really good at keeping their categories together or not them getting mixed up

frank beniero: Best of Best

Tim Hyde: yay! thank goodness there is some culture on ventura blvd! if you love fast food, mattress stores, cvs, and public storage this place won’t put A smile in yer geddyup. and if you are one of those nimbys that complains about parking you also won’t like this.

Sharon Sindilaru: Great selection and great quality vinyl. Some real gems to be found here

Mark Singer: There are surprising finds many times at this record store.

David De Leon: Friendly staff, always willing to help

Jake Hart: Great experience here. Really friendly staff and knowledgeable. I'm about 2 hours away but I'll be back!

Eddie Perez: Great selection of vinyl records.

Michael Shafia: Bob is a solid dude

Chris Geller: One of my favorite record stores
