We had a good idea of what we wanted but played with different woods, paints, and stains to see which would get the perfect color while keeping the beautiful wood grain. We also included the brass inlay and played with several designs for the legs until we got it just right. Throughout the process HoH was very responsive and ensured we all were on the same page so no surprises when it came to reviewing the final product before delivery. John Graves: Been going here for years to buy our stock. Best selection and prices in LA -- the oldest lumber yard in town. It's located in ugly, industrial Vernon but WELL worth the drive even though it takes me an hour to get there. Everything is stacked so they've got forklift operators to pull the stock down for you, horizontally stacked. The setup is wholesale, not retail. But anybody can come in and put some fiber in their diet. The stock is not surfaced, so when you want 8/4 maple, THAT'S what you're gonna get, a full 2 inches or better. 4/4 stock is an inch thick, but rough. Also they have some unusually thick sizes in many stocks, from 10/4 to 12/4 and beyond. Definitely worth a visit, but a good idea to call ahead.

Michael Martin: Bonhoff has been the go-to for three generations of woodworkers in my family. Their selection is amazing, including exotics and live-edge slabs. Their staff is professional and knowledgeable, and will work with you to get the cuts you need. They also provide milling and cut-to-length service.

Joshua Jackson: As a local furniture maker, I have been going to Bohnhoff for 10+ years and can't say enough good things about this place. The pricing is certainly competitive or better than most of the lumber yards in Los Angeles. In addition, the quality of the lumber is off the charts. They typically have wide stock in most common wood species and offer different grades from #1 common to FAS to premium. I almost always have multiple options to choose from. They also allow you to hand select the lumber, which allows me to really take my time to choose through the boards that work best for each project. And, finally, the crew outside and inside are great to work with and always attentive and on top of the operations. Thanks to Mike and the rest of the crew!

As a guest time customer I got the impression they typically deal with larger customers, but I interacted with 5 people and every person went out of their way to greet me and make sure I found what I needed, each made me feel welcome. To my delight, they even have a special area for their 'smalls' which are either short pieces or less than perfect ALL at discounted prices. The yard guys amazingly seem to know where to find anything, after you walk their huge yard you will better understand why that is so amazing. I'll definitely be back.I should point out they sell by the board foot, so if your not familiar with true hardwood lumberyards then I recommend you take a few minutes to learn before your visit.

Blake McCormick: I love this family-owned business. Adolfo is very kind and accommodating.On my particular visit, I was just looking to get two shelves custom cut to size. I quickly found some scrap MDF that would work and Adolfo was able to immediately cut them to size for me. The cost was incredibly reasonable and I was in and out very quickly.I was happy to discover that United Wood Products has a treasure trove of all types of wood and for anyone who might have an old house they are working on, you can definitely find all sorts of goodies to help you complete projects wood for which may have eluded you.I am happy to post this review and to recommend the business to people far handier than me!

Cary Talbot: Clean, organized, racks of beautiful wood planks and plywood panels including exotic hardwood like zebra, teak, mahogany, walnut, and much more. If you build furniture or cabinets this is your store. All planks are 8 to 12 feet long with various widths and thicknesses sold by the board foot. Most are unsanded and have one finished side. The red oak boards I bought were about 40% of the price I would have paid at Home Depot. They will cut boards to fit into your vehicle but it took 30 min to have 4 boards cut in half.
Patrick Christy: Wow. Good folks. Helpful. Unloaded a day early. First come first serve. If you're driving a big truck, good luck. The back to the dock is not bad, but the traffic is a scream cause you have to use the whole street, and it's fairly busy. But, with enough aspirin and tums and therapy afterwards, it'll be fine.

We were matching it to wood we had already bought, so I was pretty fussy looking at each board for color and quality. Carlos was never impatient, and always willing to lift another board, so I could see what was underneath. His prices were more than our original source, but much less than the competitors. He deals only in cash or check. If you want to look at boards buried deep in the piles of wood, you need to give 24hrs notice so they can access it for you.

They stock a full range of finishes, as well as some power and hand tools.
