4worldlovers: Learn your fundamental theory and core skills through MVA Online. Online includes pre-recorded classes, teacher assistance, and kits with most courses. Oscar Lopez: Zms is one big family. Everyone who learns here becomes great at what they do. They go to the furthest extent to make sure their students become the best version of themselves. I went to this school and now in licensed and own my own barbershop.
J C: I’m in the final few hours of the barber course at this school. I am an out of state barber updating my hours as required by the State so I can write the test and continue working.That being said, I’ve not only taken the barber course in another school many years ago but I’ve also been working in the field as a professional for many years.I have a lot of school experience and real world working experience and I can honestly say that ZMS The Academy is on top of their business. The staff from the front desk to all the teachers are amazing, personable and huge resource of knowledge and are experts in the field. The teachers teach a good thorough course not only getting you prepared for the state exam but even more so getting you prepared to work in the field with confidence. You can tell that they genuinely care about the students and how they are grasping the information.The teachers and administrators are very accommodating with the students and work with them on an individual basis not only with school work but school attendance as well.As a professional in the field I’m so glad I have the opportunity to finish up the required training for the state at ZMS the Academy. Comparing this school to my other school and the real working world this is, in my opinion, the school to attend.I highly recommend ZMS the Academy to anyone needing training in Barbering or Aesthetician. You cannot go wrong. Just call or stop in for a visit and see the difference. I’m proud to be a part of this school and excited for my future here in California.
Joshua: I was very nervous about changing my life in my late 20s and committing to barber school and in the beginning when I was looking at schools I was looking for any reason on why it wouldn’t work or why I couldn’t do it and that I should just stick to what I know. But after I visited the school and was greeted and given a tour by Max and introduced to everyone, suddenly I wasn’t anxious anymore. I felt confident in my decision to pursue barbering. After touring many schools and then completing the program at ZMS, I learned that what really separates them is the instructors. Ms Dolores is a seasoned veteran with 4 Licenses and an abundance of knowledge and makes theory fun and easy to learn and genuinely cares about helping you become a better barber. Chris, the instructor for the barber floor, makes you feel comfortable and confident even if you’ve never cut hair before. His patience and good vibes make you feel like you’re learning a skill while just hanging with a friend. And Max, although a newer instructor, has a way of making every student feel like they matter. He would give the shirt off his back to any student who would need it. He serves as the De-facto mascot of ZMS, and although those are big shoes to fill, he does it perfectly. Even Jez at the front desk isn’t too bad 😉Thanks guys for everything and I’ll be back soon for my 2nd License!
Brandon deCervens: Best experience I have ever had from a school. Happy and honored to say I completed my hours to become a barber here! All of the Staff from Ms. Jez to Ms. Dolores to Max and the captain of the barber floor, Chris are all caring and will teach you the skills from being a nobody with no skills to have the confidence and abilities to work in a shop. You’ll meet new people daily and make new friends along the way and It is a very clean and safe environment for everybody. If you have concerns, they actually listen. I usually don’t leave reviews but If you are ready to put the work in I personally recommend this school over any other schools in LA to get your barber license! Thank you ZMS for everything you have done for me personally as a student.
Dee Bee: Well today I got my license as an esthetician. This school will help you succeed, just listen to the teachers and put in the work. Our teacher Ms. Dolores is theory and she will help with whatever you need. Ms Shahla keeps us with hands on, you learn or practice something everytime. Everyone is kind and will go the extra to help you.
Carmen Rodriguez: I came in for a one day class for sugaring and I was provided with the best education , they answered all my questions and were very detailed with the course. The esthetician program they provided is very hands on and I’m glad to have choose this institute for my education. The staff is very welcoming. The education this institute provides is amazing!!!

This school gives a great environment and great instructors that lead you in the right direction to pass your state board exam, in the short time i was here, i was prepped to be ready for my exam and retained more information then i ever did at my previous school paul mitchell(zms is the move it you want to gain knowledge , practice cutting hair and prepare you to be a barber on one in just 8 months, i wish i would of came here from the beginning
Alba Zelaya: I was a student at ZMS from October of 2022 to August of 2023. I took the esthetician and PMU course, I loved it so much I wanted to continue. I’m a newly licensed esthetician thanks to the training I received at this school. If you want to go to a school that will not only teach you up to date techniques, uses a wide variety of quality products and can experience different technology, ZMS is the place for you. ZMS is in the heart of Boyle Height’s, close to DTLA, accessible via public transportation by either buses or metro. Ms. Judy and Ms. Dolores are exceptional. You get great support to get you ready for the state exam, taught by Ms. Dolores. When you complete the program you will receive 2 great product kits and more for your back bar. Hannah Heacock: This is the only place I get my hair done. All the students are incredibly talented and kind. Spencer gave me a root touch up and toning treatment and I am absolutely in love with it!!

Obviously it's a school, and it takes a little bit longer but I sincerely appreciated the care and focus both the student and teacher put into my hair cut. They went above and beyond what I asked for. 5 star experience.

Marina Milosevic: I've been here several times now, did cut and now color twice, and did many blowouts in the past and have always walked away very happy! I worked with Mina for color and highlights and just loved the results. She got rid of that brassiness that happens when you lighten brown hair. Yes, it takes longer here since you are working with students, but you know that going in and you can't beat the price.

Maggie Sisco: Annie B. did a MET-I-CU-LOUS job on my very coarse/curly hair. She accommodated my schedule and even stayed late to get through my thick, unruly mane. She taught me a lot about my hair type and discussed options with me for new styles I had not considered. There was also a new instructor there who was excellent at sharing guidance as well. It was pretty clear from my experience that they both had a fierce passion for what they do and a drive to keep their expertise sharp and be on the leading edge of what's new in the industry. Highly HIGHLY recommend. Already made my return appointment.

Liv Li: THEY ARE THE BEST!!! I did a simple haircut, but they gave me a full service with shampoo and conditioner. The student was very professional and patient, and the teacher was consistently checking on the process to make sure things were done properly. Their deep conditioning is definitely worth to try.
