Unlike many other guitar instructors that can be found online, Drew's curriculum does not include teaching, quick ephemeral lessons which don't allow for progression. Rather, is lessons aim to shape the foundation that you use to play guitar, or progress in certain areas. My own experience in music, is that I taught myself guitar at the age of 14 and never truly progressed from there. No matter how much memorization/ theory/ songs that I learned. Drew really was able to create a framework that I could work with to improve my skills not only within a 1 hr lesson but still do this day.

I started with zero experience in classical guitar and two years later can play pieces like Romanza and other study pieces. Bach which are relatively complex.My teacher is Regina and she is awesome! She is very knowledgeable, passionate about music, patient with me. Regina keeps lessons interesting, finds new partitures that are fun and adequately difficult for my level. She is also very accommodating in case I need to reschedule a class.If you looking for piano tutor for yourself or your kids - this school is the best school you can find!

Dante Alba: Honestly this is the best school for taking private music lessons in Los Angeles. From day one, Everyone at Hollywood Academy of Music and Arts treats you like family. Kirk, who is the director of the Academy, is very kind and cares for his students. I'm currently taking voice lessons with Dan and so far he has helped me a lot in developing my singing skills. He's very patient and he's very clear on teaching you the techniques to learn how to sing. I highly recommend Hollywood Academy of Music and Arts.

Jessie Kelly: I've been taking drum lessons here for 6 months and it has been AMAZING. The staff is friendly - Kirk the manager is nice, helpful, and clearly cares a lot about the school and its students. Samantha is great and always kind. My drum teacher, Nils, is so talented and knowledgable, it is fantastic to work with him every week. He is encouraging and patient and has helped me improve my skills tremendously. My son with great desire runs to her lessons. And he plays great. He quickly adapted to the local format for studying music and successfully completed his homework on his own. Although he didn’t do his homework very well in Russia, he studied at a music school in Russia for two years. I'm glad we chose this school here.

Yaniv Kenan: Jan is a great instructor. I take bass and electric guitar lessons with him. He plays several instruments, so when I'm playing bass for example, he might play along with the guitar or drums. It's really helps in developing great rhythm, so it's a huge plus. Get ready to play and have lots of fun!

Being a bit of an older student I was somewhat embarrassed to go in at first but that pretty much disappeared after our first lesson due to Jan's professionalism.Would strongly recommend to anyone looking to Guitar, Bass, or Drums. He is able to keep the lessons really informational, inspiring, and at the same time, very entertaining. He will jam with you while you are practicing simple techniques, and make you feel extremely satisfying in that process. Zhang Jan: I know I will learn from Jan ever since my first class with him. He teaches techniques while manage to make the process fun. He explains everything he wants you to do so you understand the purpose of each exercise. He doesn't only teach you how to play, but also how to practice on your own. Reasonable charge. Flexible with time. Perfect for someone who's working and still want to learn something after work. He prints out sheets of music so you don't have to purchase any book. All in all very knowledgable in music, and a professional teacher.

Sam Zayas: Jan is the best bass teacher you will find!Growing up in music conservatory, learning piano and theory was a traumatizing experience for me. I had always thought that maturity and resilience were essential at the start of this learning process, necessary qualities to make it through the harsh comments and judgmental finger-pointings that music teachers gave to their students. I assumed, after the first couple years, such experience would ease as the music skill developed. When I decided to finally get serious about learning the bass guitar last year, I honestly expected nothing less. I met Jan with this preexisting perspective my last eight music instructors had left me, and I am sincerely elated to say I was wrong, and there is a music teacher who is honest with and passionate about his students and their learning.I commence by stating Jan has a strong sense of authenticity and humility. He is very open about his learning experiences with the guitar. From the stories he has told, he understands the various challenges, including rhythm maintenance, chord analysis, and transcription, that accompany learning an instrument. In addition, he provides constructive advice, directed towards improving the student’s musicianship. Being taught by an individual who views his students as peers is critical as this makes the learning processes much less intimidating and significantly more enjoyable, and an enjoyable experience assists in maintaining interest and fostering motivation in music. I find that, now, I am ecstatic to grab my bass and practice very night. Eagerly, I look forward to my next lesson with Jan and seeing what he will teach me next.I must also share a few words on Jan’s teaching method. I think “anyone” can teach another person to play music. In fact, one might not actually need that “anyone.” One can self-teach how to read notes on staff paper and where the notes are on an instrument, and there one has it. However, Jan’s focus is not isolated to teaching a person how to play music yet more importantly also includes how to create music. He emphasizes the fundamentals— the chords, the scales, and the arpeggios—that transform sounds into music, highlighting the note patterns that are appealing to the ear and the context in which these notes sound best. Before starting my lessons with Jan, I could play one too many Beatle’s songs. Knew every note in the basslines and how long to play it for. What I could not tell you before Jan was why every one of those notes sounded incredibly awesome in their given song. While playing the basslines other artists have written is fun and is part of learning, I believe creating one’s own is more rewarding and pleasurable, and this ultimately contributes to one’s desire to keep learning the instrument.Jan’s teaching approach has been instrumental in my music skill development. His comprehension of music and his genuine personality make him an ideal teacher for any individual, adult or child. I have seen him teach with the same level of passion he has for music, and one will positively reap a strong musicianship learning an instrument with Jan. I owe Jan my deepest gratitude for imparting a loving for music and bass that will last my lifetime.

Sarah B: My son takes piano lessons with David at RSoM. David is great with our neurodiverse kiddo, we really rely on his consistent style and creative approach to our often challenging kid. My only difficulty is getting a lesson time that is earlier in the day, the time we have is too late for him. The studio is lovely, Austin and everyone at the front desk are exemplary, the recitals are flexible and accommodating for kids who struggle with jitters, yet just formal enough to provide the feel of a "real" performance. All the teachers we've had have been wonderful for both my kids. Evan, in particular, has a very intuitive understanding of the complex emotional life of a 6 year old.
