The staff is friendly - Kirk the manager is nice, helpful, and clearly cares a lot about the school and its students. Samantha is great and always kind. The lunch turned into a discussion of her music academy and I told her about my life-long desire to play the cello. I've been a Yo Yo Ma fan as long as I can remember and no one else plays Ennio Morricone or Brazilian tango like he does. And there you go. I am now taking cello lessons at age 61. My teacher Hannah gracefully and quite patiently guides me through the beginnings of learning the instrument. And as I learn how to pull horsehairs across the strings, I hear the young children at the piano, on the drums, at their violin, and I am amazed at the width and breadth of what this wonderful Academy of Music does for the community. Mari recently hosted a holiday recital at a local church to display all that talent bursting from this academy, a little jewel on the corner of Highland and Wilshire. Again, amazing. Wonderful musicians all with loving and supportive parents. You couldn't ask for more. And Mari works from sunup to sundown to make sure it all keeps going. I consider myself so lucky and look forward to learning more and getting a warmer sound in 2020!

Jules Desmond: John is an excellent teacher! He has been teaching my 10 yo son drums this year. He is able to foster a love for the instrument and for music in general. He has broadened my son’s musical taste, always picking fun songs while also letting him choose songs that he wants to learn - often improvising a level appropriate drum part! While my son doesn’t always find enough time to practice, John is very patient and positive and my son always looks forward to his lessons, which at this beginner stage is the absolute main thing!

I could play chords nicely enough, but struggled with more advanced strum patterns, fingerpicking, and music theory. I went through cycles of getting into playing again, becoming bored, then putting the guitar down for a couple months and losing progress.Since starting lessons with John, I have learned so much and playing guitar is more fun than ever! Alexis Hilton: Rhodes has a great atmosphere, A warm and friendly staff and grades and dare I say very patient teachers. I have definitely improved since going to the school. Highly recommend!

Sarah B: My son takes piano lessons with David at RSoM. David is great with our neurodiverse kiddo, we really rely on his consistent style and creative approach to our often challenging kid. My only difficulty is getting a lesson time that is earlier in the day, the time we have is too late for him. The studio is lovely, Austin and everyone at the front desk are exemplary, the recitals are flexible and accommodating for kids who struggle with jitters, yet just formal enough to provide the feel of a "real" performance. All the teachers we've had have been wonderful for both my kids. Evan, in particular, has a very intuitive understanding of the complex emotional life of a 6 year old.

Currently, my son is preparing for the upcoming show with Mr. Colin in the Hip Hop II class, and he is very excited about the class and the performance. Laura the instructor does an incredible job of keeping the babies engaged and leading age appropriate activities. He is so engaged and has developed such a love for music! Highly recommend!!

Ali Van Dam: Our 7 year son has been taking private piano lessons with Andrew for the last few months and we couldn’t be happier! We wanted him to start learning to read music and he showed interest in the piano. He was nervous at first, but as soon as he popped out of the first lesson he shouted “I LOVE it!” And has repeated that after each weekly lesson. He is encouraged to compose songs and explore the music in a way that is fun and experiential, so different than the boring lessons I grew up with! Bloom’s philosophy is that learning music should be fun above all else, then the drive and desire will develop naturally. I love this approach.They had a parent’s night out in March that was free for enrolled students and only $20 for others. Our two kids had a blast while we got to have dinner and drinks at one of the many local spots. It was fantastic and I hope they offer this again!We love Bloom and feel so lucky to have it in our neighborhood. I expect it to be part of our children’s music and dance rotation for many years. Many thanks to teacher Andrew and the entire Bloom team for creating such a wonderful space for kids to “bloom!”

Tarik Ammour: Cole has been my daughter's drum teacher for the past 9 months now and he's been great. This was her first go at the drums and Cole does a great job of integrating songs that she likes into her classes.

ramsey stevens: My daughter Lila takes guitar lessons at Bloom with Edward. She loves coming to her lessons and leaves energized and happy. Edward works with her on any song she is interested in learning. He keeps her challenged and engaged.

Our son takes Cristina’s mini hip hop class and he loves how she’s helped him work on his coffee grinders! He takes Kinder combo with Gina and appreciates how she’s helping him get ready for his recital. He also takes music with Cole and loves how he makes the classes fun. Anastasia Balom: Ms. Chayil is the best!!! We came to Bloom one Saturday to get more information about the classes available for our 5 year old daughter and the front desk let her join in Ms. Chayil's Ballet and Friends class. I'd never seen my daughter so engaged! She loved it and could not stop talking about how much she loved being a ballerina. Ms. Chayil is so kind and welcoming. She is incredibly patient and amazing at gently redirecting our daughter when she or the other dancers lose focus.
